Zambia Ships First Soybean Consignment to China

Zambia has sent its first consignment of 120 tonnes of soybeans to China, opening a potential new export market for local farmers and creating opportunities for the country’s agricultural sector.

The shipment was dispatched on October 10, 2026, by CAMCO Demonstration Farms. The development marks a step towards connecting Zambian agricultural producers with international buyers and meeting export market requirements.

Access to overseas markets could encourage farmers to increase production and improve the quality of their crops. However, taking advantage of these opportunities will also require reliable transportation, proper handling and consistent supplies that meet buyers’ standards.

The development comes as Zambia pursues higher agricultural production under its Grow Zambia Agenda, which includes ambitious targets for soybean and other crop production by 2031.
